(Posted by: nicole g on 2008-11-21 06:01:35)
My cat scratched his eye somehow, maybe one of my other cats did it or he did it himself while playing, he seems happy and not to be in pain but he cant really keep his eye open, any suggestions on what to do? i feel so bad for him. |

If it doesn't get better, you should bring him to the vet. It could get infected and could turn into a bigger problem. The vet will most likely give you an oinment to use. |

Cats are really good at hiding pain. I'd take him to a vet to get some antibiotic eye ointment or something - it would be a shame if he lost vision in the eye - you never know, play it safe. |

He probably has a corneal abrasion. Take him to the vet before any permanent damage is done. They will give you an ointment to put in his eyes about twice a day, in about 2 days he will be fine but you need to continue the ointment so it heals properly. Good luck!! |

You should take him to the vet soon. He may have scratched his cornea. And just like humans, it could make him go blind. If it gets infected, they may have to remove it. Best case scenario, if it gets infected they may be able to treat it with an antibiotic. |

He needs to see a vet so the damage can be accessed and infection prevented. |
